Tropes: found family, enemies to lovers, slow burn

Triggers: SA, child abuse, family death

🌸 I never planned on reading this book. I didn't even know it existed until I read about it in a Facebook post. I had several books in front of this, but something screamed at me to pick them up. I'm so glad I did. This book has romance, spice, plot, intrigue, and more.

🌺 The funny thing about this book is it's around 500+ pages, but it doesn't feel that long. The plot didn't really lag and I didn't feel myself zoning out.

🌼 Tisaanah is such a powerful woman. I really enjoy her and her stubbornness. I also like how she has an accent. Like it’s mentioned several times and her attempts to learn the language. It’s an intricacy that authors overlook a lot. I also love how she is dedicated to learning her power to save her people. I truly enjoy being in her mind.

🪴 Max. His story is just as heartbreaking as Tisaanah’s but in very different ways. These characters truly make you feel and empathize. Max is such a cutie with his reading glasses and his affection for Tisaanah.

Definitely one of my favorite reads this year. Now off to read book 2! ♥️
