This book broke me. Then put me back together again. And then broke me even more thoroughly than the first time. I am going to say this in every review of these books in this series...I'm so thankful to the person in the YA and NA Facebook groups who said people were sleeping on this series. They were correct, people are sleeping on this series. I cried so hard at like 100 different points of this series. I also loved every single second of it. For a 600+ page book, it never got boring or slow. I was riveted. Pick this up. I'm serious.

‼️SPOILERS BELOW THIS POINT‼️

Tissaanah just can’t ever catch a break and everyone wants something from her. Except for one person. Sweet Nothings by Taylor Swift reminds me of Max and Tissaanah. He really just wants her. When he asks her to spend her life with him and she doesn’t answer, my soul broke.

The ending of this book had me lunging for the next one. Nura is awful and I loathe her. I don’t feel and never really felt any sympathy for her. She only ever used Max and Tissaanah to become powerful because she had a serious inferiority complex. Nura never loved Max’s family and you can fight me on that. She only loved what they could offer her. Ugh.

Max going to Ilyzath broke my heart. I hate that this book has me in a chokehold because I can not forget the pain it brought me, but also the joy. I love these characters and I am excited to read the finale.
